Finally a sequel to one of the best animated movies of all time! The animation was spectacular as always with Pixar now. The action was so real and life like for an animated movie, the plot was captivating and fun, and all the characters got some much needed depth to add to the lure of this universe.

This sequel to a classic turned out to be neither an upgrade nor a downgrade.

One of the best mid-century universes ever. I think this is better than the first.

5.9/10 Some praise is in order for the animation. This film is gorgeous. Pixar only continues to improve as the years go on, and rarely do their films age poorly visually. Michael Giacchino’s return to score this film is also welcome. He doesn’t create any particularly interesting new themes, but reuses the old ones fairly well. Since the first move focused largely on Bob, it seems natural for the second to center on Helen. Her half of the story is decent. Not amazing, and not nearly as good as the first film, but decent. Bob’s side of the plot is weak. Most of Jack Jack’s fight with the raccoon is pointless, but it’s allowed to go on way too long. Bob taking the kids to the diner where Tony works is equally pointless. The writing of Screenslaver is lazy to the point of not making logical sense. Evelyn brings back supers in order to get rid of them again? She helps change the status quo just so she can get back to the status quo? Additionally, despite how interesting the character’s philosophy about screens is, it’s not Evelyn’s actual point, and ends up feeling completely unnecessary and convoluted.
