👌🏻 3.2 / 5 👌🏻 — Spy Game is a Tony Scott movie with excellent talent and pacing, making it a solid film, but it doesn’t quite measure up this many of his other works. ——— Spy Game leverages Tony Scott's experience in directing espionage thrillers and features stand out performances by Brad Pitt and Robert Redford. However, it doesn't quite live up to its promising potential. The primary shortcoming lies in its storytelling approach, which limits the core spy thriller and rescue narrative to bookends surrounding extensive flashbacks and political maneuvering. While the film is not uninteresting, the opening scenes and the climactic finale are significantly more engaging than the flashbacks, rendering much of the movie more distracting than captivating. I enjoy most of Tony Scott’s work and while Spy Game isn’t bad, I would rank most of Scott’s other work higher.
