Maurice is a gem, thanks mostly to E. M. Forster's interesting narrative. However, I found many of the cuts in the film quite bothersome. Often, a scene would abruptly halt at an odd juncture, only to leap forward to another year and sequence of events. Nonetheless, the plot was so well-crafted and the developments so relevant that it was impossible not to remain interested. Oh, and I quite liked the ending. It was a harsh, cruel time to be a homosexual in England, and both Maurice and Clive dealt with their reality in the way that was capable for each of them.
