Una película "de terror" muy de los 80, no es una gran obra de arte pero consigue entretener, aunque para mi gusto hay mucha diferencia entre el asesino perfecto que se ve durante la mayor parte de la película y la vieja torpe que es una vez que se descubre. Es un clásico que creó una de las sagas más largas y conocidas de terror.

This film is an icon in many horror fans' eyes as the start of a glories franchise full of iconic kills and lots of gore. But this film alone is amazing. The mystery and atmosphere is at the forfront of the plot as we the audience don't know who the killer is as when there's a kill it's always in a POV which is a nice change from knowing who the killer is. However, there is only one clue of who the killer is, and you never meet the killer at the start. Instead you just meet them at the very end which I don't like as if you want to guess who it is impossible as they haven't been introduced to us, which means in Act 3 we don't get a connection between and the final girl. Also, there is one plot hole as in one scene as she stalks the counsellors,but then a couple minutes after she is in her car driven to Camp Crystal Lake. Which confused me. The kills are ok, except for two kills, which are brillant and iconic. The first is the arrow through the neck that Kevin Bakens characters unfortunately gets. It's so unique but simple at the same time, and as you see here, hand forcing his head against his bed as he is powerless is so effective. Secondly, Pamela's decapitation with the camera in slow mo as the machete slices her head is amazing. And the prosthetics just look stunning. Pamala Vorhees is a great character and played magnificently by the late betsy plamer. You can feel and see her pain, anger towards herself, and the counsellors as she gives us an exposition dump about her son Jason, who died by drowning. She is completely insane as she mimcs he rsons voice so she thinks he's actually talking to her and telling her to kill people which was a nice touch. The cast are likeable to dialikable and seem very annoying sometimes as they do stupid decisions, but you don't see them having much screen time as the likeable and more responsible ones. Finally, I do like how the film messes with our expectations of who the main protagonist is, which I like. Overall, it's a good and expermental film which, instead of focusing on, kills and gore it foucus more on atmosphere and tension, which shows the origin of the most popular slasher fran

Not quite as good as my last watch but still dumb and campy fun with a stellar performance by Betsy Palmer. Her maniacal commitment to Mrs Vorhees really makes this more twisted and better than it really deserves. I love the ending even more this time around too. Classic! 389/500 movies & tv for 2024

It's possible it's been 25 years since I watched this late on cable and it's still a classic even containing a lot of camp. So many iconic horror movie tools and tropes used, but they all worked for me. There's a lot more subtlety in the big moments and this does present more like a slow burn than a slasher. Even knowing the reveal, it still surpasses expectation and is a great time all around, especially getting Kevin Bacon so early in his career. 353/500 movies & tv for 2023

7/10 The score is pretty unique. The obvious theme to point to is Mrs. Vorhees’ iconic musical cue, consisting of a series of whispers. The rest of it is pretty great too, though. The piece that plays during the ending, where Alice is on the lake and police officers show up to help her, creates a sense of security and finality while also keeping you on edge. The counselors and their interactions are genuinely kind of funny. The characters themselves are forgettable (with the exception of Alice), but they aren’t intolerable or poorly acted like you’d expect. I was pleasantly surprised by the cinematography. The use of focus is more interesting than I expected from the movie that birthed the slasher genre. The opening is a direct ripoff of Halloween, but at least they stick with the point of view angle for Mrs. Vorhees. Thankfully, Friday the 13th doesn’t overindulge in its kills or gore. The pacing is relatively quick. For most people unfamiliar with the franchise, the twist with Mrs. Vorhees will probably be that she is Jason’s MOTHER and that Jason doesn’t actually show up until the second movie. She’s still a frightening villain, though. The scene where she tries to warm up to Alice is pretty eerie. Sure, she gets knocked to the floor a few too many times, but I’ll take her over some of the other villains this genre has cooked up.
