Whitebird is a prequel story for the novel 'Wonder' which shows cinematic shots with a perfect narration that gives the feeling of sadness, kindness and humanity altogether that hits perfectly at the end. While watching this film it feels like you're in a very peaceful environment and the way castism is shown that happened during WW2 over Jews was very well written. The performance by the whole cast is surely without any doubt outstanding. It teaches us metaphorically when Sara Blum (lead) sees a white bird every time which shows her hope that 'This time will get passed and the pain won't stay forever'. It is a very beautiful movie to watch out for this year.

After Julian is expelled from his previous school for bullying Auggie, he struggles with what kind of person he wants to be in his new school. Knowing that he has lost his way, Julian's grandmother decides to share her story with him, including how she once struggled with what kind of person she was and wanted to be. Her story was less about her and more about how a boy, who people treated differently, saved her life, changed who she was, and helped her survive Nazi-occupied France. This movie is a spinoff of Wonder. The story is touching and heartfelt. It is meant to inspire people to be better; even bullies can be redeemed. The story's setting makes it predictable. The movie is full of emotions, hope, drama, happiness, humor, and sadness. Watching Wonder is optional to enjoy this movie. It might be one to stream on family movie night instead of an outing to the theater.

While the film, White Bird, presents kindness in a form that can really change peoples’ lives, it does not add anything new to a Nazi occupation story. It doesn’t fail in being a heartbreaking story about the cruelties of evil and what gives light to the people during those dark times. The film provides inspiration for us the viewers to keep an active watch over anyone who seek to bring the dark back. A bully who gets expelled from his previous school is taught these lessons through his grandmother who experienced getting separated from her family during the Nazi occupation but is shown great kindness of the people who gave her protection, shelter, and safety. But the story sticks to the usual cliches used by similar stories. The film made me cry, but I’d probably forget about it later on, The screenplay just knows how to use words to pull at your heartstrings and Hellen Mirren delivering those words just makes for a soulful experience.
