The Score lacks the style, pacing, fun and interest of its 2001 heist partner, Ocean’s Eleven. The Score has often been acclaimed and praised, and while it isn’t a terrible film, it falls short in comparison to the other 2001 heist blockbuster, Ocean's Eleven. The film predominantly revolves around discussions, planning, and negotiations, lacking the fun, style, and excitement found in Ocean's Eleven. The serious and somber tone of The Score, coupled with characters ranging from unlikable to neutral, fails to fully invest the audience in the thieves’ plight. While the major heist spans about 40 minutes, the slow-paced unfolding keeps this climax from becoming very interesting until the final 10 minutes. The film ends very abruptly leaving the viewer unsatisfied. Despite solid performances from DeNiro and Norton, The Score ultimately comes across as bland.
