My first reaction to this film was "This is directed by WHO? Peter fucking Jackson!?!?" because obviously this isn't the kind of movie you expect from him, but PJ still does a great job with The Lovely Bones despite the genre change. It’s a fantasy thriller drama about a murdered girl hovering in the afterlife as she watches her family investigate her death - the acting supremacy of Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci (deserving of his Oscar nomination), Mark Wahlberg and Saoirse Ronan where definitely the highlight for me. In short the movie is gripping and had me on the edge of my seat when "the event" happend And i loved how the movie portrayed the different reactions of characters to loss and grief and I believe in the idea of the constant permanent struggle in trying to see good where there’s only bad to be felt. The impossibility of letting it go and the amount of untamable weight that comes from it. The only real complaint I have about this movie is the ending. I was hoping for something more. But other than that, this is a great film. ★★★★ - near perfect (8/10)
