Gran película escrita y dirigida por Francis Ford Coppola, con un genial Gene Hackman como protagonista, donde se nos cuenta una historia que se sale de lo normal, centrada en un experto en audiovigilancia que está totalmente obsesionado con su trabajo. Metidos en la acción desde el primer segundo de la cinta, tenemos ¨la conversación¨ que da nombre a la película, la cual está grabando este hombre con su equipo, y luego vamos viendo cómo la va arreglando, entendiendo y todo lo que ello implica. Una especie de thriller psicológico con un genial giro de guion de esos que te dejan locos.

7/10 “The Conversation” has a rather pulled back, almost voyeuristic visual style that works in its favor. It matches the narrative and feels fairly unique. David Shire’s score, made up nearly entirely of fluttering piano pieces, also fits the film. It’s eerie. The second act of this film meanders seemingly without a destination. It really has almost no sense of urgency until about an hour and 15 minutes in, and there are a few key scenes that genuinely had me questioning if I missed something. The entire sequence in Harry’s shop seems to go against everything previously established about his character. “The Conversation” starts and ends fairly strong, though, which is why I still ended up enjoying it on the whole. In these segments, the film actually has drive to it. Harry becomes an actual player in the plot. I can’t help but wonder why the whole film wasn’t like this. Something praiseworthy throughout the film is the acting. Gene Hackman makes Harry’s slow descent into paranoia work so well.
