Empecé a ver esta película sin haber leído nada sobre ella, ni visto ningún trailer, ni nada de nada, solo conocía el título... y me he quedado ALUCINADO. Al principio parece lo más típico del mundo, aunque con cierto toque de ¨algo falla¨... Y es entonces cuando empieza la locura, y te das cuenta que esta película va más allá que las típicas pelis de terror... Muy bueno el punto de que, personas normales, ¨evolucionen¨ a los típicos personajes cliché, y el como se va descubriendo el meollo, hace que te mueras del suspense... Y llega la parte final, y te quedas con la boca abierta, que cosa más inesperada, que magnífico tributo a todo el cine de terror... Para quitarse el sombrero.

This movie has to have been written in the middle of a party. There is no other logical explanation. Think about it. At the beginning we are offered a shy and sober idea of a group of friends going on a small rural incursion. As the writers take effect from alcohol (and who knows what other substance) they add exciting elements to the plot, abandoning all ties to the realistic and embracing the fun, no matter what. When all the writers were turned around, ideas began to rain. Zombies, Werewolves, Clowns, Specters, Giant Spiders, Giant Snakes, Giant Bats and endless horrors that if you put them all together there is no other viable option than a bloodbath. Now, if you're reading this and you think this is a negative review... you're wrong! this movie is horror on steroids and acid! What a crazy and funny story! The real fault is the lack of depth, the beginning and the end. But you can well ignore those moments and enjoy the show. Obviously there will be no higher rating. This movie is an entertaining ride and nothing more. There are photography and visual effects errors, to say the least. Don't expect a masterpiece. Recommended for fans of horror.

This is such a interesting watch, I remember seeing it my first time and being absolutely bamboozled at the end. It takes familiar tropes we know and turns them on their head making the whole experience unique. The self aware script is what really makes this movie so compelling, blending horror and comedic elements while we also get good commentary on what is going on. It always keeps you guessing about what is really going on here. The opening sequences and the ending could of been executed better, but the plot overall is very unique with a smooth sailing pacing. The cast is solid, there’s not one standout performance but they gave me what I want from a horror movie and thought the chemistry between them was authentic. The visuals were hit or miss, while there were some locations and effects I enjoyed, there are others that could have been improved. Didn’t like how the woods scenes looked, was a moment where they’re supposed to show off this deadly blade but you can hardly make it out thanks to it being so damn dark. Without spoilers though, that third act is just madness. Jaw was on the floor the first time I watched it as a kid and I respect Drew Goddard for pushing the boundaries here. The Cabin in the Woods won’t be for everyone but for those wanting a fresh experience that twists the expectations we have in horror, this is the one to watch.
