I wanted this to be higher than it was, being a massive nerd, but I cant bring myself to put it higher than anything above it. Despite it seeming a bit cheesy by today’s standards, it is still the absolute blue print for movies now, basically writing the template for how to create characters, just legendary.

The amount of hours I had to figure out how to watch the trilogy got me to the first movie - but isn’t the first movie cause it’s the 6th… I know. it’s confusing- I was too 🥲 The cinematography is great in the year it was published 🙏🏻 the movie is rather slow (or it could be my braincells- could be both). fell in love with R2D2! one movie out of the “need to watch films I guess”

Star Wars Episode 4 A New Hope is the first film released in a saga that will become cult. this first part was released in 1977 and was a real success upon its release, George Lucas and his team worked hard to produce this banger for its time and is today a cult film. The film has been remastered and is still watchable today. Although some scenes and visual effects have aged poorly, the film is still great. The film highlights the science fiction already known at the time with Star Trek for 11 years. George Lucas here signs a sci-fi film of course but also a fighting film with many Japanese inspirations. On the casting side, we then discover actors who will become better known through this film, notably Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fischer. I discovered this film as a child and today I finally saw it in original version and I also appreciated it in original version despite my attraction to the French version. To finish, I would like to say that this film in terms of production is very interesting and in 1978 won the Oscar for best editing because the editing here was not the original editing.

Star Wars: A New Hope is an iconic film that set the standard for science fiction and fantasy movies & it still holds up, even after more than 40 years! You may not get into it the “star wars story” immediately but once you get a hang of it, there is some brilliant lore throughout the series which would keep you hooked.
