Every time I think maybe I'm heading in the right direction; I end up in a place I never knew could feel this bad. FX's most explosive drama Sons of Anarchy rode wildly from 2008 to 2014 for 7 seasons spanning over 90 episodes. Created by Kurt Sutter, it focused on Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original (SAMCRO) in Charming, California. Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) is the main character the current Vice President of the club.  This club was founded by his late father Jon Teller. The story begins to unfold as Jax finds a diary left behind by his late father that could alter not only his destiny but that of the club as well. Jax grapples with his loyalty to the club & his desire for a different life for his family. However, his stepfather Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman) is the President of the club & there is a constant power tussle between them. His mother Gemma Teller (Katy Sagal) is manipulative, lethal but protective of her family. The other notable members of the club include Tig (Kim Coates), Chibbs, Juice, Opie, Otto (Kurt Sutter himself) etc. Most of the characters including Jax have a horrible moral compass. They may look like knights in shining armour in one episode while rapacious men in another one. They are the outlaws. Everything is justified in the greater good of the club which makes them hard to redeem. The show doesn't shy away from the brutality of gang violence. The shootouts, chases and street brawls get nastier in the subsequent seasons. These are characters that you will hate to love & love to hate. This show is not for the faint of heart but once you power through you will realise how bloody brilliant this is!!! Suddenly you will begin to root for these characters. The intense & compelling character driven drama, those shocking twists & turns, those unpredictable deaths, those tear jerking moments makes it an addictive watch! Sons of Anarchy pays ode to William Shakespeare's Hamlet in the context of bikers outlaws where Jax is forced to reckon with the sins of his father, stepfather & his mother as well. He loses everything including his humanity on the way to fulfill his father's legacy & to save his children from a gangster like future. It's a show about  bad choices, relationships & how karma eventually catches up. All credit goes to the stellar cast who have given hell of a performance and Kurt Sutter for writing, directing & acting in this series showing us how bold & creative television can get.
