This is my second viewing of a classic series on the Netflix platform, and I must admit... that I am very disappointed. When I saw this first season for the first time, I remember liking it a lot. I don't know if it was because my opinion was based mostly on the last episode, which I found now as spectacular as then, or because my personal contexts are different. Probably both. The relevant thing is that this time, I think this season has more lows than highs. Mainly, I think there is excessive melodrama. Each line of dialogue is either a cliché phrase or a quote from a book on morals and ethics. People don't talk like that! None of this is natural, nor casual, nor grounded. Those lines are only realistic in a couple of deep conversations that you or I can have from time to time, but not every moment, every time, every day or all day! Another detail that lowers the overall rating of this season is that the story takes too long to establish itself as a base. The preamble is too long, taking up a large percentage of the episodes and leaving very little time and space for development and closure. Within the positive, the first and most striking thing is clearly the production design, specifically the locations. This series was filmed in multiple cities around the world, which gives the story an exotic and cultural flavor. This also helps to give diversity to the characters, which I think is excellent, since we are not only talking about cultural diversity, but we also cover a rich diversity in gender identity. This is applauded with pride, because to this day, it's something that is rarely seen. THIS is true cultural inclusion. Diverse original characters in a new and original story. Cultural inclusion is NOT replacing the ethnicity of an existing character in a new adaptation. Another good element of the series are the action components, of which the Wachowskis can teach with their previous filmography. In short, great diversity elements, good action, but too much cheap cheesy. Recommended for those looking for melodrama, action and diversity in all its expression.
