A powerful and uncompromising Vietnam war drama directed by Oliver Stone (who himself served in Vietnam). The film follows a young soldier (Charlie Sheen) as he deploys for his first tour into Vietnam and discovers disillusionment and moral ambiguity as he experiences the horrors of combat firsthand. Featuring a cast that includes, Willem Dafoe, and Tom Berenger, Platoon is a raw depiction of the psychological and physical toll of war. It explores themes of violence, morality, and the dehumanizing effects of combat with unflinching honest. A thought-provoking and unforgettable cinematic experience that remains relevant today and is probably my top Vietnam film of those that came out in the 80s.
