Una de las películas que marcaron el inicio del género de ¨cintas de robos modernas¨, con unos cuantos actores bien conocidos de la época y una trama atractiva, pero que considero que, por la forma en la que está expuesta, flojea un poquitín. Y es que toda la primera hora de película, que sirve básicamente para conocer a los personajes, sus tramas personajes y tal, la verdad es que se me hizo algo larga, no resulta tan interesante como debiera, y te corta un poco el rollo para el resto de la película. Tiene una trama interesante y el planteamiento del plan de robo y demás es acertado, y la película se deja ver muy bien, pero me resultó algo lineal en general.

They really waited until about 55 minutes in to actually let you know why the gang is getting together. Somehow too long and and over-edited at the same time. I could've done without the cutesy ratpack stuff and the singing and the first half really takes forever building up some nonsense stories. Nice twist at the end but overall just quite a lot of going through the motions. The entire heist is basically glow in the dark spray paint, some electrical work, and one blown up electrical tower. I'm grateful for this movie for what it's inspired, but I didn't really care for it. 166/500 movies & tv for 2024

5.9/10 There are a few things about this movie I really do appreciate. The score is just as jazzy and groovy as the Rat Pack themselves, and the cinematography is a lot more dynamic than your average movie from this era. The structure of this movie is just not very good. They have to reintroduce the casinos every single time. It feels like the movie is restarting. As cool as the heists are, there’s not much to them. They sort of just… happen. No tension. Nothing. They feel way too easy.

A classic that carries a little baggage of its era but also the charm of an all-star cast that embraces its diversity and the fun of a heist in fabulous Las Vegas. Ocean's Eleven (1960) boasts a cast that didn't just rob Vegas - they headlined it! The Rat Pack swagger through every moment, oozing cool and class. The movie knows it's meant to showcase the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr., so they spontaneously sing and charm their way through every interaction. The film is a true product of its time for both better and worse. It can be easy to dismiss some of the jokes as racist (and some definitely are), but Sinatra and Martin were pivotal in the fight for equality in Vegas, and this humor was common for its day (although still inappropriate). The heist is not complex but entertaining, and the film's ending is surprising, ironic, and funny. The iconic cast, the charm of 60s Vegas, and the outrageous simplicity of stealing millions of dollars make Ocean's Eleven a classic that owns New Year's Eve and Las Vegas as a necessity for each.
