Anurag Kashyap at the peak of his power This movie truly proves why he's nothing short of a genius. I really miss this Anurag Kashyap and this type of cinema, which is sadly lacking nowadays. He masterfully crafted an unorthodox film that boldly deviates from mainstream cinema. This film is more spiritual than metaphorical, beautifully depicting the devastating effects of addiction on others and oneself. The destruction of inner spirituality was captivating to watch, and the film becomes a mind-bending experience by the midpoint. To me, the Guru Ji and other characters represented inner demons and the inner soul conversing with ourselves. The opening shot is one of the most impressive I've seen in Indian cinema, reminiscent of the Coen Brothers' style, particularly in Fargo.

No Smoking totally subverted my expectations, I’ve never quite seen another movie like No Smoking, which is why I feel compelled to give the movie a 4 star review. No Smoking revolves around K, an entitled asshole with Patrick Bateman vibes who chain-smokes constantly, has weird dreams, and treats everyone like shit. When his wife finally leaves him he decides to turn his life around and try a guru who specializes in breaking bad habits and who several friends recommend. What follows is an around the world odyssey deep into his own psyche which makes you feel like you’re watching a David Lynch movie like multiple reviews mentioned before starting the movie. After some research i found out the movie is Based on Stephen King’s short story 'Quitter's Inc.', 'No Smoking' has so much to show and i loved the ambition of this project, the surrealist touches, the slick and experimental cinematography and is by far the best Bollywood movie i’ve seen (it’s my second one)

This is one of the most bizzare, weird, complicated and underrated movies I have ever seen with such a unique and daring concept that still is, way ahead of our time.It tries to be a film about quitting smoking but evolves into something else that gives a message about society hard to deduce. You may feel confused and frustrated about its plot with elements of surrealism, dream and fantasy. You might be able to understand Inception or Interstellar but this one will mess up your minds and it is definitely not for everybody.Anurag Kashyap is a freaking genius and the greatest filmmaker of India of this generation.

Amazing concept. This film was way ahead of its time. Performance by John Abraham is good and the storyline along with the message is commendable. Highly recommended.
