Una especie de "Carrie" versión infantil, hay que reconocer que es una película de lo más entretenida, aunque la protagonista sea tan odiosa y los personajes hagan papeles tan sobreactuados. En verdad tengo que reconocer que la he visto varias veces xD cosas de tener hermanos pequeños... En fin, un film entretenidillo y poco más.

Matilda is a bad ass bitch and I will fight anyone who disagrees

I still remember reading "Matilda" in my school days. I really enjoyed it. A book lover like me, an avid reader like me soon became my favorite character. And I watched the movie too recently. Offcourse, I love the book more than the movie. Still the movie is too good. Watching it was kinda relieving the past. I felt nostalgic. It tells the story of a little bookworm, a gifted child who was forced to be born into a family that's so ignorant. The family was much into materialistic pleasures than the intellectual ones. They were uncaring and for them education was just a waste of time. Still she managed to get into a school, but there she encountered the evil principle that bullies every child. Miss Honey, my another favorite character is so sweet and kind. I really wished for a teacher like Miss Honey when I was in school. Miss Honey loved Matilda as well as the other children of the school. Matilda, with her gift, the power of telekinesis helps the children as well as Miss Honey from the evil principle. We have a happy ending here, where Miss Honey adopts Matilda and lives happily together in her house. It gives a great message that knowledge is power and it's what makes a human humane. The books she read made her realise her parents were wrong, they were abusive. They were not just wrong towards her, but towards the entire society. Her father was a fraudulent where as her mother a greedy uncaring woman. Her brother too was becoming more like her parents. On the other hand, Miss Honey who faced a lot of hardships and betrayal from her aunt in her childhood was still with so much love in her heart. She never changed herself, even after suffering such misfortunes and it's really a wonderful trait. Never change yourself eventhough the situations are hard. Be good, spread love and you will find your way soon.

Danny DeVito is a treasure & Rhea Pearlman is an icon. Minimal 90s cringe for my first time seeing this. The Netflix Matilda musical has been on repeat in our house, so of course we had to watch this. DeVito as the narrator is perfect and he and Pearlman are spot on as the Wormwoods. Mara Wilson brings her Doubtfire energy and is ideal as Matilda.
