7.2/10 I want to preface this review by saying I didn’t understand a good chunk of this movie. I honestly had no clue what an investment firm was going in. Someone who really lived through the ‘08 market crash will probably understand this far better than I did (I was only 5 at the time). That being said, I still thought the first 45 minutes or so were difficult to follow, even outside of that. I didn’t get any of the explanations that were given before the first big meeting. That one actually did a pretty great job of explaining what exactly the problem was with the company. I just wish it came earlier in the movie. What was nice about that was that in those first 45 minutes, I kind of allowed myself to be enveloped by the score. Kind of gave off a Social Network vibe. It was good. The acting was good all around, but Jeremy Irons, Kevin Spacey, and even Paul Bettany were kind of in a league of their own. Their characters stole the show a bit. Do not misinterpret me: this is an enjoyable movie. I, personally, just found the plot incredibly confusing. That makes it difficult for me to say much of anything about Margin Call. I might have to rewatch it eventually and do some sort of re-review.
