One of the best sports based biopics. Indian cinema, especially bollywood never ever touched football so much passionately like this before. It has a life. Beautifully written and well made drama. Failures, pain, family, sports, corruption, ego, win,.. every emotion is beautifully written and made. Subtle and excellent performance by Ajay Devgan. The film should be appreciated for its technical aspects also. Overall a nice movie. Recommended.

Maidaan released on OTT last week which gave me an opportunity to witness this biopic that covers the golden era of Indian football. I had the good fortune of getting an autograph from legendary Indian goalkeeper Peter Thangraj when he visited my father's office in my childhood - when I came to know about Maidaan, I was curious to see how well the makers can potray the magic onscreen. After watching this movie twice, from different perspectives and with different audience groups, in a span of 24hrs I can say that it matches Chak De! on multiple counts. On few other fronts, it actually surpasses Chak De! because of its realism and emotional connect. It also taught me few strategies about the game and how a coach can turn things around from outside the field. Most importantly the movie leaves behind a question - if one man could win so many laurels in 10 yrs with limited resources, what went wrong in the next 62 years that Indian team couldn't even come close to those stellar performances? On the negatives, I have deducted a star for the slow buildup which made my wife take a power nap for few minutes 😆

Literally the best football/soccer drama film until date. It checks all the boxes in terms of a proper sports drama movie. The direction is great, the presentation is really cool and unique, the performances are phenomenal. The screenplay is good for the most part, the uniqueness in story telling and editing is evidently shown. This is literally the best football movie and one of the best sports drama film! This is definitely a must watch movie, people should have watched it in theaters to support movies like this.

A sports drama with a story which is based on the real life incidents of 1962 AsianGames Gold Medal winning foot ball team couch Rahim. Struggles he faced in his personal life and professional life was whole story. A very...very usual story for a sports drama which we are seeing for years. There's nothing groundbreaking in Screenplay too, yet it failry delivers what is needed. Flim had a long duration of 3hrs. By splitting them as 3, 1st hour was slow yet it maintains a smooth flow throughout with quite few moments here and there. But 2nd hour was pretty dull and makes us to loose intrest at parts & that is where the flim feels to be lengthy. Whereas 3rd hour compensates that with full on sports mode & with an impressive visuals. Climax was emotionally beautiful. Even with a very much lengthy RT, flim felt rushed at many parts as it crosses many event just by VoiceOvers. Emotions had worked fair enough, but if the rushed nature was avoided emotional connect could have bn much more better. And eventhough its biopic the negative character, its motive and final change over everything was soooo routine & had nothing new or smart in it.Perf wise flim had a grt support. Right from the supporting roles to Ajay Devgan, everyone had done a grt job. And dfntly a commendable work frm ARR Overall, even this Maidaan is pretty much a usual sports drama, it has its heart at right place. DECENT WATCH

The much awaited Maidaan film has finally released so many delays. Boney Kapoor is back with one more good film which lacks a cinematic experience. The story is really nice and inspiring. An eye opener film for the entire country that targets some of the major problems in our sports industry. Ajay Devgn as the coach was amazing. Loved his acting but felt a bit repetitive (similar to something he did in Raid). The dialogues lacked intensity. Though the delivery by Ajay Devgn was great but the writing lacked substance. Gajraj Rao succeeded in the negative role (I literally hated him for most part of the film). All other supporting actors did a decent job. The cinematography of the movie was beyond expectations. I never watch football but I really enjoyed the football scenes in the movie. Hats off to the people who worked on the film editing and the cinematography. Really glad and proud to see this work. The background music and the writing was little flat which hampered the cinematic feel of the movie. I would have given 4 to 4.5 stars if there could have been good enhancements in writing and background music. Overall a good watch! Recommended✅
