A new age Western. This movie has all the makings of a classic Western: horses, cowboys, beautiful mountain scenery, sheriffs, and a Native American. The movie is set during the 1960's, which can be comparable to the Wild West. The setting plays a vital role in how the story unfolds. This movie is about the relationship between a grandchild and grandparents. After their widowed daughter-in-law re-marries a man, who comes from a very controlling matriarchal family. Their grandchild is relocated without their knowledge. They leave everything they know to go find and bring him home. The movie ties in the tough issue of domestic abuse, which is why the era of the movie helps the story, and how far a family will go to help stop and protect others from it. Small towns, word of mouth, and close knit communities all play a role in how the characters interact and how information is shared throughout the movie, just like the the classic Westerns. The story and the mindset of the society at the time forces the grandparents to make tough decisions in order to accomplish their goal of keeping their grandchild safe. When the law can not help you, sometimes you have to take the law into your own hands. If you are a fan of old school westerns, and are in the mood to see one again, I recommend watching this one. It gets straight to the point and moves quickly. The downfall to the fast paced story is there is not much backstory given to the characters, which does not give you an opportunity to relate to them. The views are breathtaking and the action is not too over the top. This movie is worth a stream.
