I have no idea why it took me so long to watch K-Pop: Demon Hunters, but wow, I’m so glad I finally did. This movie is an absolute blast from start to finish. The animation is stunning, the energy is off the charts, and the blend of supernatural with K-pop glamour is unlike anything I’ve seen before. The characters are instantly lovable, the humor actually lands (a rarity these days), and the music? don’t even get me started! Total earworms. It’s no surprise to me that it’s become a repeat favorite for kids several of my friends have said their kids are watching it on loop. Honestly, I get it. It’s that good. There’s so much heart behind the flashy style, too. It’s clear why this one is getting a sequel. If you haven’t watched it yet, don’t wait like I did. You’re in for a treat.

I watched this movie today after hearing a lot of positive things about it and after watching it I can say I 100% agree with the things that I had heard about it. I thought the animation was really good. The songs were really catchy! I thought all the main characters were really likeable.

A film with this sort of title probably has no right being as good as it is, but this really was a blast. Sony yet again showing that they can’t be beaten when it comes to animation at the moment, Demon Hunters is a feast for the eyes, full of stunning vibrant colours and fantastic, quirky visuals. There is truly a treat in every single frame and you can’t help but admire it. Then you put these impressive production values along with great voice acting, a fun and punchy storyline and some extremely catchy music… It’s no surprise why this has become such a hit. Top quality family fun that anyone can enjoy, if you haven’t given it a go yet, then make sure you do!

Huntrix es un grupo femenino de K-pop que de día da conciertos y de noche caza demonios para proteger a la humanidad, en especial de un rival demoníaco disfrazado de boy band llamado los Saja Boys. Al mismo tiempo, Rumi, la líder, lidia con un secreto personal que la conecta con lo demoníaco, lo cual le causará conflictos internos en el grupo y con el mundo que la rodea. En los puntos positivos tenemos la animación la cual es muy llamativa, llena de energía. Tiene un estilo que mezcla influencias de anime, cómics coreanos, videoclips, con coreografías visuales que resaltan mucho. Las canciones originales son muy pegajosas y funcionan muy bien; sirven no solo como acompañamiento, sino como parte esencial de la narrativa. El conflicto interno de Rumi añade profundidad, así como la relación con Jinu. Diversión asegurada, momentos de acción bien coreografiados, escenas más suaves que equilibran el drama, el humor funciona bastante. En los puntos negativos tenemos algunos personajes no terminan de explotar lo suficiente, algunas líneas emocionales o conflictos resultan poco profundos o superficiales. Hay momentos en los que la película baja su ritmo o intenta explicar demasiado lo que debería mostrarse; esas explicaciones verbales pesan algo más de lo ideal. Aunque funciona, mucho del arco argumental no sorprende demasiado; algunos recursos ya se han visto antes. La peli cumple ampliamente como película de entretenimiento moderno. Visualmente espectacular, emocionalmente resonante y musicalmente atractiva. No obstante, algunas áreas podrían estar mejor pulidas. Pero en conjunto, es de lo mejor del año en este género animado-musical-fantasía.

New animated sensation streaming on Netflix. I’m not taking anything away from this movie, it's just a preference to me personally. I’m not a fan of K-pop and I’m not a fan of anime-style animation which this is heavily influenced by. So that affects this score a lot. I will admit that I do believe this movie will be nominated for best animated feature(one of the reasons I wanted to watch this was because of the hype). I’m almost positive, it’ll be nominated for one of the many original songs that it has. Speaking of those songs, some of these songs are now being played on the radio, adding to my thought that these songs will be nominated and played at the Oscars. As for this as a movie, it’s exactly what the title calls it, it’s a K-pop group that fights demons. This was created by Sony Pictures Animation, which knows how to make great animated films, so I do see this being impactful come award season. With its catchy songs and the extreme popularity this movie has gotten, I’m positive this will carry on throughout the year and it’ll be a powerhouse when it comes to year-end best animated films on a lot of people's lists. Netflix struck gold with this one, as far as the popularity of this movie.
