Portraying the harsh reality in a funny way is so hard. But 'Jojo Rabbit' just did it easily. The film easily conveys the Hitler's Nazi Germany, genocide, war, propaganda and the how they manipulated kids and others. Outstanding performance by the boy, the girl and Scarlet Johansson. I loved the production design, cinematography and the color palette.

Taika Waititi sorprende, y mucho, en esta ocasión con esta especie de comedia dramática que satiriza de una forma bestial el tema del nazismo, pero a un nivel que me ha parecido hasta raro que haya llegado a estrenarse. Los últimos tiempos de la Segunda Guerra Mundial vista desde los ojos de un inocente niño pueblerino, que se considera nazi ¨porque es lo que le han enseñado¨, y poco a poco va abriendo los ojos a la realidad y aprende a pensar por sí mismo. Me ha encantado el tono irónico que tiene la película en todo momento en lo que a los nazis se refiere, me he reído bastante en algunos momentos y hay otros bastante emotivos. Muy muy digna de verse.

starting my week with a good ol’ cry

Quirky is an understatement, for me this was on the line of becoming a 15 from a 12. That personal statement is taking nothing away from the film. Oddly dark, with some quite intense mature subjects covered in an almost child friendly way.  Acting was amazing, everyone played their roles brilliantly. Something that particularly stood out to me, is that all of the actors that were donning their Germans accents but none of them seemed exactly convincing. I’m not sure but I personally think that this was intentional to add to the comedic value of the film, and to shine the light on the sheer stupidity of the war and Hitler as far as the rest of the world is concerned. All in all I would certainly watch this again without consideration. Truly funny with some beautifully melancholic scenes.
