Gran Torino is one of my all time favorite, a drama that never gets old. From the beginning we see the changes and the different situations in a typical american family, the habits that change, the new context in a neighborhood. But this movie is not just a drama, is also a wonderful analyses about racism and how an old man can faces the globalization, how important is looking over the own nose. Walter is simply amazing, a great character who impersonates a precise american face and a precise attitude. The war, the "American made", the 4th of july, values and stories that are always there. Clint Eastwood is an amazing actor/director.

Una de las mejores películas que se han podido dirigir en este siglo, un drama que incluso no para de darte mensajes y lecciones sobre la vida, una joya. La película consigue ir de menos a más, cuando hablamos de esta película, realmente estamos hablando de puro cine. Su banda sonora que es autentica es capaz de quedarse grabada en nuestra memoria, sus escenas épicas y no en el sentido de espectacular visualmente, pero sí en cuanto a actuación. Una leyenda que lo único que quería era pasar desapercibido entre tanto ruido, pero por causas del destino se ve obligado a replantearse sus cuestiones éticas y morales, y realmente llega a cautivar la relación entre Wolt y Tao, que nos regalan esta magnífica historia. No ganó premios Oscar, pero el paso del tiempo y la aceptación de todos los cinéfilos le otorgan un puesto especial. Una obra maestra. EN (🇬🇧) A cult film without a doubt, where the weight of the plot is so epic that it makes it a truly authentic story. One of the best films that have been directed in this century, a drama that doesn't stop giving you messages and lessons about life, a jewel. The film manages to go from less to more, when we talk about this film, we are really talking about pure cinema. Its authentic soundtrack is able to stay engraved in our memory, its epic scenes and not in the sense of spectacular visually, but in terms of acting. A legend who only wanted to go unnoticed among so much noise, but for reasons of fate is forced to rethink his ethical and moral questions, and really captivates the relationship between Wolt and Tao, who give us this magnificent story. It did not win an Oscar, but the passage of time and the acceptance of all moviegoers give it a special place. A masterpiece.

Gran Torino The legendary Clint Eastwood plays a Korean War veteran who after having lost his wife has to deal with a young neighbor named Thao Lor that attempted to steal his most prized possession, a 1972 Gran Torino. Clint Eastwood plays Walt Kowalski, a bit of an asshole in this movie, but a charming one, without any ill intent but more looking through foggy lenses as to how much his community has changed. Thao Lor is probably my favorite character in this film, he’s clearly very different from his cousin who is the leader of a gang, but he’s too shy to stand up for himself and his believes. This leads to Walt taking him under his wing as he helps him mature and gain confidence. It created a dynamic that’s very fun unfortunate to watch since the looming danger of the gang still roams around. With Walt’s actions against the gang coming at a very heavy price, Thao’s sister being assaulted and their house gets shot, Walt sets out on a path that as the viewer, we feel he might not make it back from, despite the pastor’s plea, he’s chosen his fate. Walt chooses to slowly go through his day, and close out a lot of chapters as well as doing a confession, something his wife had wanted him to do after her death. Opening up about his decision that had tormented him since the war that gained him his Medal of Honor, it was in that moment that I truly realized how much this movie has resonated with me. In the final moments of the movie, not only does he free himself, but also leaves his most prized possessions, his dog and his Gran Torino to Thao, a person that grew to care for him more in a short time span, then his own family. Every beat absolutely works, this is a beautifully made film that deserves a lot more recognition.
