Todo un clásico moderno del cine bélico, muy bien lograda y con muy buenas actuaciones. He tardado demasiado en verla, pero más vale tarde que nunca. La película tiene partes buenas, realmente buenas, pero no puedo decir que toda la película me lo haya parecido. Me explico: la cinta se divide en 2 partes, totalmente diferenciadas. La primera, la parte de la instrucción, que es excepcional, es la parte que todo el mundo recuerda, con montones de escenas y diálogos que ha quedado para la posteridad. El ¨como se instruyen los marines americanos, según el cine¨. Insultos, malos tratos, lavado de cerebro, convertir personas en meras máquinas de obedecer y matar. Esta parte de la película es posiblemente lo mejor que he visto de Stanley Kubrick. La segunda parte, la parte de la guerra de vietnam, que ocupa la mayor parte de la duración de la película, personalmente no me parece tan interesante. Primero, porque es una guerra que siempre me ha parecido absurda y totalmente sinsentido. Segundo, porque realmente no tiene un objetivo , una trama en sí, esta parte de la película. En ella vemos todo lo malo de la guerra, como saca los más bajos instintos de la gente, las miserias y los terrores de la guerra. Pero quitando esto, ¿de qué va toda esta parte de la cinta? Básicamente de nada. Y por esto es por lo que considero que esta película es difícil de puntuar, le pondría un 10 a la primera parte, y un 6 a la segunda. Aun así, por supuesto, es digna de verse.

This is a gritty and down to earth insight into the realities of the vietnam war, which follows a group of young men as they go through recruit training to be US Marines before their subsequent deployment to Vietnam. The film has two distinct parts, the training sequences that shows the different characters and we learn their motivations and the deployment part when several of the young recruits reunite having forged their own careers in their own specialist areas. The film is a classic and up their as one of my best war films.

Today i rewatched “Full metal Jacket” after seeing it perhaps close to 20 years ago, so it felt like watching it again for the first time. I’ve been on a huge movie binge spree after getting myself a surround sound system in my room, and been having a blast watching all kinds of movies and experiencing them as i am in the cinemas. “Full metal Jacket” is a great movie, and I’m satisfied with my rewatch ★★★½ - very good (7/10)

The first 40 or so minutes are terrific. Equal parts funny, uncomfortable, and gut-wrenching, it's a whole movie's worth of story that Joker goes through before he even gets to Vietnam. Despite his relatively safe position as a journalist, Joker has already seen some of the worst of what the military can do. He's seen it break someone beyond repair or control and drive them to murder and suicide. When he finally goes to the front lines, he's able to take the brutality of his fellow Marines in stride. The Vietnam segment is also effective but never comes close to the emotional whirlwind of the first part. R. Lee Ermy and Vincent D'Onofrio really make the whole thing sing, and you can't help but feel their absence.
