Denzel's passion for the stage and dialogue really shines through but is completely overshadowed by Viola Davis. Her performance is absolutely heart-wrenching and way more interesting and noble than that of Denzel's. The essence of a stage play really takes over, but so does my boredom. Some decent themes, I guess. I liked it, I cried a few times, but it was really the back half, Viola Davis, and the kids singing a song from their dad that got me. 48th Denzel of 2024 493/500 movies & tv for 2024
