Jesse Brown es un piloto de raza negra que se une a un escuadrón que en teoría no pelearía. Esta es la historia real sobre uno de esos héroes de guerra olvidados. Ahh se me olvido es una historia basada en hechos reales. Una buena producción donde destacan Jonathan Majors, Glen Powell, Thomas Sadoski, Joe Jonas y la bellísima Serinda Swan como Elizabeth Taylor. Ahora volviendo a la película, aunque la ambientación es buena y los efectos y las escenas de vuelo son increíbles, la peli pierde su energía por ratos y no avanza al mismo ritmo, eso si cuando empieza la acción la misma no para y eso es muy pero muy bueno. Otra cosa a tener en cuenta es la historia de amor detrás de la guerra y que desde ahí es donde viene su nombre Devotion, por la devoción de Jesse a su amada, esa historia si no tiene nada de aburrido. En fin, película que entretiene y que nos da una probada de lo que pudo ser Majors como actor si su carácter no lo auto sabotea.

It's a real shame that this movie was released the same year as Top Gun: Maverick, because on its own, it would have been an unquestionable success. Although we must analyze each work separately, hateful comparisons are always there. Still, I'll try to stay out of reach of the 80's aviator sequel. Devotion is a wonderful story, but unfortunately there is a directing job that doesn't make the most of the benefits of a script written with love and pride. The performances are good, the photography is good, the visual effects are compliant despite not being infallible, almost everything is in its place, except for one of the fundamental pillars in a film, the direction. Shots without movement, strange and unfortunate framing, scenes lacking in emotions, good performances, but not rigorously demanded. As for the edition, there are small continuity errors that are only noticeable if you are aware of this aspect. The big problem of the edition is the duration. The film was able to compress and delete some scenes. Not all dramas have to be long! In short, drama, action, war. High emotions take over the screen by the excellent Jonathan Majors. Recommended, but don't expect action, where you will only find drama.

It’s hard to imagine who "Devotion" will fully satisfy. Enthusiasts of historical dramas (such as myself) will find it all too simplistic and clichéd; action junkies won’t walk away awed by the CGI-tainted flight set pieces, and Majors and Powell fans won’t get anything from their by-the-book characters. Just as the Korean War holds the moniker “America’s forgotten war,” "Devotion" will have to make do with being “America’s forgotten 2022 aviation film.”
