After hearing so much about this film being a cult horror classic, I finally decided to watch it, going in completely blind. I didn’t know the premise, nor had I seen any trailers, so I had no idea what to expect. Without giving away too much, I’ll do my best to share my thoughts on the film. Cuckoo takes a stab at doing something different, and for the most part, it works as a genre film. It leans hard on style, mood, and atmosphere, delivering a weird, mysterious, and creepy horror vibe. Unlike other standout horror movies this year, like Longlegs from Neon, it doesn’t pack a lot of solid scares, or any in fact. Instead, it keeps you guessing with an enigmatic tone, trying to get you to piece together what’s going on. The movie starts with a slow, eerie pace in an isolated setting, building the expectation of a big, satisfying payoff. Unfortunately, that moment of clarity or greatness never comes. The story feels aimless and indecisive, which detracts from the overall experience. It’s especially disappointing because the cinematography and production quality are impressive, but the plot ends up feeling like a disjointed mess.

Occasionally style over substance, but for a horror movie, that's not always a bad thing I have to admit, this one felt like a good horror. It was tense, it was weird, and it had a wild premise. It really did do a good job, especially in the first half, of building up that tension and making things feel uneasy and confusing. It did lose it a little bit in the second half when it all kicked off. I personally like horror more when things are unclear for a lot longer, that's the bit that's the scariest. Once its mostly revealed and becomes more of an action movie, it lost me a bit. But still, I cant complain about a good tense horror movie, trying something new and stepping outside the box a little, good stuff.

This one i was looking forward to. So whats it all about? A Wacky and Wild Ride that will leave you both more scratching your head tha. entertained as we follow Gretchen (Hunter Schafer), who reluctantly leaves America to live with her father at a resort in the German Alps. Plagued by strange noises and repetative visions she soon discovers a shocking secret that concerns her very own family. There is tension, and the film is full of unexpected twists and turns, but whilst that is all well and good it really isnt clear until the last quarter what's going on, and then it's a bit underwhelming at the.end. Maybe best to.miss this one.

Such a fun and wild ride. This one builds up so well that when I started to realize what was actually happening I wanted to go back and watch it all over again to see what I missed. Such a unique and interesting story, I want to know so much more about everything, I can’t stop thinking about it. The acting is absolutely brilliant and the cinematography is stunning, making this movie hard to keep your eyes off. I can’t wait to watch this one again.

Am I the only one who struggled to understand what was happening and what really happened the whole time in this movie? It’s like they wanted me to go cuckoo as well! 😅 But really, it was an experience guessing and going into the creepies, mysteries, and thrills of it all. Plus, the visuals were so good, and Hunter and Dan were amazing as usual. However, it was slow-paced, a bit confusing, and just didn't have enough resolution really. Overall, while Cuckoo is unsettling in a good way, I’m just not much of a fan of thrillers that leave you hanging a bit. But if you like your mysteries dark and don’t mind some loose ends, this might be for you.
