It’s a nice movie with easy narration and simple characters. There is a beautiful portrayal of different types of family relationships, especially the one between brothers. You cannot help but love as well as hate the war hero, played by Tobey Maguire, at the same time. On the contrary, you will love the evil turned good brother because of his sudden realisation of responsibilities, Jake Gyllenhaal’s character. You somehow realise that how important facing your inner demons is and why not to put your loved ones on the extreme test because that hurts too very much on both the ends. The story also highlights what a war does to the sanest of men out there. I love the way the director pays attention to small details of changing characteristics and equations if the situations are variable.
