In order not to get so wrapped up in introductions, I'll start by saying that this has been one of the great disappointments of the year. Barry's last two seasons came on a promising upward curve, but this fourth and final installment is a dry crash on the pavement. The first episodes met the standards that Bill Hader had accustomed us to, but the problem came in the middle of the season. Poorly used actors, a weak and contradictory story, lack of tact to know how to locate an almost non-existent soundtrack, poor visual effects and a climax of the final episode that really ends up burying a season into oblivion. Between the first 3 episodes and the final insights of the season is a burning rope suspension bridge, about to vanish in the wind. The end, within all the disappointment, showed some dignity, but it wasn't enough to save a terrible season. I'd love to read any positive reviews of this latest part of Barry's to check my words and see if there's anything to hold on to my desire to praise a product that denies itself. And that's how a TV show that didn't immediately charm in its first season ends up being one of the best comedies I've ever seen, in its third season. We had before substantial changes and improvements, but in this last 8 episodes they raised everything not to 10, but to 11 (as they'd say in the 80's classic This is Spinal Tap). Everything coexists perfectly. The mix of dark comedy with the suspense of a police thriller is absolutely hilarious, effective and memorable. The performances are on another level, especially Bill Hader and Sarah Goldberg. The subtle details of the script connect throughout, even between different seasons. The action is more realistic, more raw, but also with a fun essence that transforms this product into something special. And the direction also stands out largely for the sharpness of its shots. Just as there are one-of-a-kind episodes, there are also episodes that only exist to continue the story and slow down the entire series. These episodes don't have the intensity of the last ones, but they are well put together, to corner most of the cast in extreme situations and eventually give a good closure to all the characters at the end of the season. Absolutely recommended, although it's clearly not for the whole family.

This second season is a huge improvement over the first. The acting is much better, the humor is better, the action sequences are better. Everything is more intense, even the brutality of the violence exhibited. There are also small and subtle details, which are very well inserted and really relevant to the plot. The story is a direct continuation of the events of the first part and shows that all the untapped potential is now really developed and fully displayed. I laughed a lot on many occasions, got emotional on a few, and had fun with the action. Now the popularity of the series is fully justified. This is a great black comedy.

This is a popular black comedy that shows a hit man who wants to be an actor and leave his current bloody job behind, but obviously circumstances tie him down to prevent him from quitting. The premise is as good as it's unlikely, since no one would think that a cold and strategic assassin would turn his eyes towards the theater. This already puts the beginning of the series uphill, as there is much to convince. The question is: the series manages to hook? My answer is: Barely. The performances should be the key point, but they don't stand out much, even when the plot itself includes an acting academy. Now, the main problem I see is that the entire series suffers from a fairly common evil. It's one of those typical works where the first two thirds of each episode is slow, calm and not much happens, but when reaching the last third, dramatic or action sequences are unleashed, ending spectacularly and giving the false perspective that it's a good and entertaining product. This happened to me with almost every episode and also on a larger scale, with the series itself, because 6 of the 8 episodes bored me, but the last 2 are quite entertaining. I admit that there is a good end to the season and even a good and subtle hook for the following season, which I hope will improve, because yes, I want to continue watching the series, despite everything.
