"Anand" ek aaisi film hai jise dekhne ke baad aap kisi shaam uske baare mein sochte ho aur apni vastavikta se sawaal karte ho ki kya jeevan ka kuch mahatva hai ki nahi? Aur agar sab apni duniya mein dukhi hai toh yeh khushi ke pal mil kisko rahe hai? The writing of the film is phenomenal, or I should say, ahead of its time. The film explores the paradoxical relationship between a patient and his doctor, alongside some heavy moral themes throughout. What I really loved about the film is its simple yet effective method of conveying the emotional narratives. All the philosophical thoughts are expressed through hard-hitting dialogues, and it never feels clichéd, yet it successfully hides the most crucial emotions. Death is treated as a concept that creates an aura of seriousness in films, if done right. While many films do justice to this theme, this one doesn’t even rely completely on it, even though the story revolves around death. The over-expressiveness is one of the film's strongest aspects. No wonder Rajesh Khanna is regarded as Bollywood's first superstar. His performance was outstanding. His dialogue delivery was mostly wholesome, yet a sense of desolation could be felt in his screen presence. If a character like Anand had been played by any other actor, it might have felt cringe-worthy after all these years. But Rajesh Khanna was a gem of Bollywood, effortlessly overshadowing his co-actor Amitabh Bachchan. I appreciate the fact that the film has no negative characters, symbolising the perspective of Anand towards human nature and life. If you can relate to Anand, it’s a sign that you’re a perfect human being in this so-called "depressed world." The songs are perfect, I mean PERFECT. This was the peak of Bollywood. "Zindagi badi hone chahiye, lambi nhi..." Now I’m eager to watch more Indian classics.

How did I miss this film for so long? I have been seeing clips and listening to the songs of this film but never bothered to watch the film. I am glad that I finally watched it now. The storyline is amazing and inspiring. The dialogue: Babumoshaai Zindagi Badi Honi Chahiye Lambi nahi stays with our hearts. Rajesh Khanna with his stellar performance and Amitabh Bachchan with his grace presented the film very nicely. The flow of the film is really good and the songs are the best. Everyone should watch this movie at least once. it's available on Amazon Prime video and you will definitely learn something valuable from this movie. Highly Recommended 💯
