Muy buena ambientación, efectos visuales y una historia entretenida, pero al mismo tiempo algo rara y que no terminó de engancharme. Buenos personajes, sobre todo el conejo loco, que es magnífico, y Chesire. La película pierde el punto al verla en español, pues ¨underland¨ (submundo) y ¨wonderland¨ (país de las maravillas) son muy distintos en español, pero se pronuncian muy parecido en inglés. El que haya visto la peli entenderá a que me refiero.

Another case of Tim Burton remaking a brilliant movie and adding his own crazy spin on the already outlandish premise. It all looks great, the ideas do come off really well, its just quite flat, I cant quite put my finger on it, I just don’t think it works these days.

Tim Burton’s Alice in wonderland is bizarre, dark and unsettling, completely detracting away from the episodic, kindhearted (yet nasty), lovely adventure of the 1951 classic. the narrative acts as a “sequel” to a film that never happened, and the overall nature tries to go for this serious & dark nature when it often misses the charm, it’s middle chapter is much more interesting than the dull opening & ending. it’s casting is filled with a-tier actors, though the protagonist duet between alice & hatter was jarring. as usual, depp is charming and fits nicely as mad hatter, and mia wasikowska fits into the titular role. the rest of the acting is servicable (both live and vocal performances), with decently adapted characters from the novel, while feeling underdeveloped & lacking that mischievous nature. the production design offers the wacky nonsensical landscapes of wonderland with great costume designs for each of the characters, but is saddled with the overuse of cgi effects. not to mention, the cinematography offers a completely desaturated, muted, and dull color scheme that makes it ugly to see. danny elfman’s score is certainly a highlight here, as usual, mixing whimsical and dramatic tones altogether. Alice in wonderland is a bit all over the place and slightly lacks the witted, nonsensically fun nature of the animated classic, in favor of a darker more mature epic blockbuster. while it’s got the style and recognisable level of direction from tim burton, i’d wish we’d get a much more defined version of the classic tale than this, granted i’d see this over most recent disney remakes...

Meh. I love Tim Burton and so much of the magical elements, but there's little to no cohesion for me. I'll admit I wasn't paying very close attention but this never grabbed me and Depp never charms me.. Burton's take on the characters is fun and so many of the actors are great, led by Rickman and a magical Hathaway. I didn't realize this was a sequel until late in the game but things came together much more after that. Good enough to watch the next movie. 294/500 movies & tv for 2024

4.9/10 Something whimsical with dark underlying themes, as I understand the original book to have, seems right up Burton’s alley, but for some reason, they went the route of making it into a cliché attempt at a fantasy epic. The irony in that is striking to me. Most of the CGI is pretty bad. It has this satiny quality I can only compare to the effects in The Hobbit trilogy. There are details I like, though, such as how the White Queen’s army are chess pieces, while the Red Queen’s are cards, as well as the design of the Cheshire Cat. For what it’s worth, I like Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen and Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. Nobody else gives a particularly interesting or enjoyable performance, although there are some notable casting decisions, like Christopher Lee as the Jabberwocky and Alan Rickman as Absolem (the caterpillar). The score feels exactly like what you would get from a film like this. There are no memorable themes. It all sounded like music I had heard before.
