Hostages Season 1 (2019): This review is for season 1 only. The show is about a doctor that has to take drastic measures in order to save her family members who are held as hostages. That’s about it, there’s nothing more to the plot besides that. While some subplots are interesting, the others are just plain forgettable. Even though this is a remake, it still doesn’t make quite sense as to why make this into a 10 episode series when it could have been easily shortened down to 6 or 7 episodes. Yes, the show goes off in different tangents at times but it’s okay since the characters are quite interesting. More importantly, the actors/actresses that are acting out as those characters are the bigger highlight. It’s the performances and main plot that drives this web series forward. You won’t feel bored but you will ask yourself “why couldn’t they just do this” or “why couldn’t he or she just do that”. In other words, this show has some inconsistencies and loopholes. But other than that, the show is fun watching. To see how the characters interact with each other in different circumstances is nice. The plot gets even more interesting towards the end of this season. This web series (season 1) is a remake, but the original ones weren’t as amazing either. It’s nothing extraordinary but it’s still fun to watch. The overall critic rating is more on the positive end than the negative. Same can be said about the audience reviews, except they were more easy on the rating. The show probably cannot be watched with family. There’s plenty of sexual references and some scenes, unnecessary use of adult language, mild violence, and infrequent use of alcohol/drugs. Overall this season is an entertaining time pass thriller. But it is still fun to watch.

Hostages - Season 2 (2020): The second season counties off of where the first season left us at. But it delves deeper into the mysteries and gets convoluted in a complicated plot. The web series does a pretty good job at keeping your attention even though this season is 12 episodes long. Which should have been shortened to around 8 episodes. The story of the second season is more interesting and has more substance than the first season. The set of characters are also less annoying and have great respective performances. The show does feel dragged and repetitive in some areas. But the interesting plot makes up for that. However, the excessive use of English curse words doesn’t make the dialogues “cool”.
