In all the inconsistencies found in this franchise, it's a miracle that Days of Future Past turned out as well as it did. Not only is Days of Future Past an outstanding comic book film, it's easily my favourite X-Men film (that's not Logan), so let's get popping. Back in 2014 Days of Future Past managed to accomplish something incredible by flawlessly merging the two different time lines of X-Men characters in a story that kicked ass and reset the confusing timeline of events (like that actually mattered). Leave it to Bryan Singer of X2 to be able to create this banger of a film that captures what made both First Class and X2 work. With the end of mutant existence becoming inevitable, the remaining survivors send Logan back in time to the 1970s to stop Mystique from assassinating the creator of the sentinals, a machine designed with the sole purpose of hunting and eliminating mutants. If Logan is successful, the history and future he knows will forever be changed. Singer smartly has the main characters at interesting points in their character's journey, most notably Charles Xavier who, after the events of First Class, has become a sort of junkie, sacrificing his powers for the function of his legs. It's his lack of confidence in his ability to lead that leads to some amazing scenes. Logan having to take on the role of Xavier is an interesting twist because he's never been a leader like that, and mixed with the dynamic of Magneto, we once again see a well illustrated divide in ideologies, especially in what it takes to save the future. The action and special effects are excellent, especially when you realize how much Logan doesn't actually do action wise. It's here we get the now iconic Quicksilver scene which continues to be a standout comic book scene, but also Singer isn't afraid to make things dark and brutal with the sentinels. With all these things combined, Days of Future Past is easily one of the best X-Men films and a comic book film that doesn't get the same praise it did back in 2014.

Pues no me lo esperaba ni de lejos (el trailer me echaba mucho para atrás, no se) pero me ha gustado bastante. Una historia bien confeccionada y con buen ritmo, junto a un gran elenco de actores (con razón ha costado tanto la película, nada más que en sueldos se habrá hizo un pastón impresionante), hacen de esta película algo muy muy atractivo, convirtiéndose, para mi gusto, en la mejor después de Primera Generación. Una película en 2 líneas temporares distintas (la del futuro muy bestia, las muertes son demasiado directas y uno no está preparado para ver morir así a personajes de toda la vida) y otra en el pasado, realmente buena. Mucha acción, impresionantes efectos visuales (de nuevo Magneto te deja con la boca abierta, y mención especial para Mercurio, que el personaje antes de ver la peli me daba vergüenza ajena por la indumentaria que le había visto, pero que ha resultado ser un puntazo de personaje). En definitiva, muy digna de verse.

Time Travel! a sure fire way to get me to like a movie more! This seemed like such a wild step up from what previous Xmen films had done. While the ones before were somewhat based in reality, this one introduces ever evolving sentient killer robots and a plot to go back in time and stop them ever being created…madness, but brilliant.

I haven’t done a review for a new film in a while, just been busy lately so I haven’t made it to the theater. I’m deciding to do a review of a recent film I’ve watched a number of times now 👌🏻 X-Men: Days of Future Past is one of my favorite X-Men films. Each performance from both past a present versions of the characters are fantastic! I really enjoy the scene when they have both Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy have a conversation and it’s so vital for the movie for the younger version of Charles Xavier. The action set pieces are amazing and I think will still hold up over time! The Quicksilver is one of my favorite scenes in film and it is amazing how they did it! The whole lesson of the film is that actions have consequences, and that making a decision can change everything. I love how the film incorporates the other films to have meaning to certain characters. There’s one little retcon that they do at the end with Mystique that I don’t care for. All in all, X-Men: Days of Future Past is one of my favorite X-Men Movies and just movies in general! I give X-Men: Days of Future Past a 4.8/5!

8.7/10 As usual, the score, cinematography, CGI, acting, and action are great. Watching the past and future versions of these characters at the same time fight the sentinels with different stakes is awesome. There weren’t many new characters, but the returning cast did well, obviously. The high concept of this movie brought it up for me. The time travel element was so engaging. While James McAvoy’s Charles and Michael Fassbender’s Erik are not the main protagonists this time around, their presence is still powerful. Charles’ arc about finding himself again is interesting and unique for the character. The one thing about this movie that felt overdone was the “twist” of past Magneto turning on Charles in favor of his own cause. It feels so played out at this point. It was nice to see Mystique take center stage for a while, but then they give Magneto the spotlight for act 3.
