Honestly, I have no idea why I did not watch this movie way back, but I am happy that I did watch it now. Love hurts, it hurts badly and Ranbir Kapoor can depict this feeling in the best possible manner. I salute him for his choice of films, it may not perform well on box office but he still chases art and not commerical box offices. A brilliant story by Imtiaz Ali and it drags everyone to a very unique and somewhat weird universe that Ranbir & Nargis are living in! Nargis did a fairly good job, it could have been better but it was still suiting the film. The songs are brilliant and music is the soul of this film! It's a thought provoking film and now I also believe that it is the best performance of Ranbir till date. I am very excited now to checkout all of Ranbir's upcoming performances. If you have not yet watched this one, please do watch it!

Poetic... It's a deep journey of character study in a most depressing and destructive way. A poignant storytelling about a person who is misled with a flawed idea of becoming an artist (I'm talking about the advice of Khatana) from someone who doesn't even have an ounce of experience in that certain field. A Shakespearean love story comes to a tragic end when the dilemma of wrong & right choices occurs. The writing of this film is masterclass in implanting its themes of spirituality in art/music. However, it does hinder its plot in between but it was most likely forgiveable. The music album of this film has its own identity, it has a sense of immortality where each song is meticulously crafted to serve its purpose and has created an impact that is everlasting. The performance of the actors is outstanding except for Nargis Fakhri, she lacks the intensity in many scenes but she did well in the final act. Imtiaz Ali has created a MASTERPIECE in a non-linear storytelling fashion.Re-watched it in Cinema Now I have watched this film twice in a single month and for the first time ever in cinema. The rewatchability of this film is as fresh as it was when I was watching it before in the same month. But this time, with a big screen cinematic experience. It was something like being blessed with musical spirituality in a tragic tale of love and artistry/music. I enjoyed every bit of it. The artistic non-linear storytelling that needs a lot of effort, creativity and planning to execute it right. The music that has the undying impact in its lyrics, compositions & vocals, it had a spirituality in a few songs as well. All of this is the reason for loving this artistic piece of storytelling blended into mainstream Hindi Cinema with perfection.

A great love story where an aspiring singer can’t meet his true potential, only to realise later that it came at the cost of his heartbreak. Having wanted only fame and success, now everything seemed meaningless as he wishes for nothing but the heartache to end. On the other hand, the lady love falls into illness and starts getting better only when around him. They didn’t plan this. It was all platonic. But matters of the heart are understood by none. The aspiring singer is played impeccably by Ranbir Kapoor, his portrayal of the journey of the aspiring, naive singer to someone who is famous and hurting is par excellence. Nargis Fakhri is her lady love, complementing him as her love interest. The songs are the USP of the movie. Each song touches your heart and you play them on repeat to get to the depth. A beautiful love story that is heartwarming & tragic
