This is as pure, innocent and beautiful a story about young love can get. Following the characters of Bryce Loski and Juli Baker, the movie has a nice dynamic of jumping back in forth in their interactions with each other, showing both perspectives and thoughts on one another, managing to feel very well paced throughout its runtime. "Some of us get dipped in flat, some in satin, some in gloss. But every once in a while you find someone who's iridescent, and when you do, nothing will ever compare." That quote is extremely profound that it stuck with me after watching the movie. Sometimes we can be blind towards people who could be good for us, and realize it when it’s too late. Flipped is the perfect title for this movie as the story develops, our main characters’ emotions towards one another edge closer to doing a full 180, and that’s where it’s main strengths lie. Bryce as a young boy changes from snarky and careless to taking action, planting a sycamore tree, something significant to Juli that she had lost. A heartwarming ending, thankfully with no kiss, a choice that I think maintains the innocence of what young love can be.
