Esta es una de esas películas que tocan el alma. Con una narrativa sencilla pero profundamente emotiva, retrata la lealtad y el amor incondicional de un perro hacia su humano. Richard Gere ofrece una actuación cálida y contenida, pero quien realmente se roba el corazón es Hachiko. Es imposible no llorar, pero también imposible no amar esta historia. Lo que más me gusta de la película es la emoción genuina sin caer en sentimentalismo barato, que nos presentan, es basada en hechos reales, lo que la hace aún más poderosa, es una historia que trasciende culturas y generaciones. En realidad, no tiene puntos negativos, pero puede resultar demasiado triste para algunos espectadores sensibles. Esta peli es un homenaje hermoso y desgarrador a la fidelidad. Hachi no es solo una película sobre un perro, es una lección de amor eterno.

When I first saw this movie a few years ago, I thought it was entertaining, albeit quite emotional. Too much for my taste. Now I just watched it for the second time... The film delivers on its story, but it feels like emotional blackmail from the start with a string-based soundtrack and a melancholic piano that never stops playing, leaving little room for surprise. Actually, the film could have had more cheerful tones, especially in the best sequences between Hachi and Parker, but unfortunately the piano did not cease its tireless purpose of provoking a forced feeling of tenderness, making everything already seem like a memory. Apart from this great detail, the film develops in a normal way, at a decent and average level in all its aspects. The central figure is a dog that demonstrates a strong bond with its master, whose life continues with relatively normal events, almost monotonous for a large part of the footage, until the big event occurs. Until this point, I see a lot of austerity in terms of the quantity and quality of the director's work. There are the right and precise scenes to develop the story, but there is zero attempt to make a more complete and innovative cinematic experience. The film continues down the stretch showing Hachi's famous feat, in a very limited way. The movie is decently made, but it settles for very little. It lacks ambition, a better emotional construction and a better sense of good cinema.
