they were doing the best they could for a ton of stranded extra terrestrials. it’s so sad that mankind was so cruel to them. I wonder what would happen if there were a sequel where the aliens returned to invade and punish mankind for their actions.

Bastante rarilla, con una ambientación muy ¨fea¨ para mi gusto, y una historia algo rara. Deja muchísimas cosas en el aire, como el porqué los ¨bichos soldado¨ no actuaban (dicen algo así como ¨solo cumplen órdenes, pero parece que sus jefes murieron¨ o el hecho de que los demás se comportasen como pordioseros (yo lo entendí como que ese tipo de bichos eran una especie de obreros, usados como esclavos, y por eso eran tan tontos. Solo un tipo de bichos, como el bicho-prota, son inteligentes y controlan a los demás... o algo así XD). Buenos efectos especiales, mucha sangre, bastantes muertes, mucha acción... pero le falta un ¨algo¨ que atraiga más. Tal y como está hecha, que no os extrañe que dentro de ¿3? años tengamos segunda parte... ;)

This movie was super super innovative! I love the use of the fake documentary style in this kind of sci fi setting. Its smart, its funny, it has a really profound message hidden underneath all the madness. Its kind of like if Cloverfield was funny, and that is pretty high praise if you ask me

15 years ago, Neil Blomkamp started his directing career with and underseen hidden gem about the government and aliens. It marked the return of Peter Jackson in a producing role and was adapted from a short film done by Blomkamp in 2006. This is a very unique type of sci-fi as it blends found footage in a mockumentary style while also giving us a full alien story story with moments of action and humanity. But that’s mainly what makes me enjoy the film so much. It’s completely original in its storytelling and immediately throws you into a somewhat realistic situation done in such a way that feels like you’re watching a news report. Something else that really works is the pacing because of how it’s never too slow or two quick. It continues to keep you hooked in this fictional world and the aliens relationship with the humans. It’s one of those alien films that isn’t a horror nor too much of a strong sci/fi in the sense that is Star Wars and that alone is why I look at this as a completely unique take on the genre. My only nitpick is that the CGI doesn’t hold up that well. 2000s effects were an interesting time as it was a real development for the method but considering this being a late 2000s Sci-Fi, it does have a slight 2001 look to it but maybe that’s just me. Overall, District 9 is an ambitious and unique addition to the catalogue of Alien movies and one that is definitely worth watching. There’s a strong story with great performances and pacing that leaves enough of a gap for a sequel if Blomkamp ever decides to make one. huh
