One of the most compact, direct, pacy, to the point movies I’ve ever seen. Not a single second of this movie was wasted, I absolutely love the briskness of this. Its simple, its intense, its acted amazingly, and keeps you on the edge of your seat from the second it starts to the final shot (pun intended)
With characters credited as "Hispanic medic, Nigerian Vendor, Korean husband and Korean wife" you know the kind of writing you're gonna get. This isn't a good movie. Deep zooms into circuit boards, cross-cuts in editing, the fashion, hair, language, and cliches could not be more early 2000s. Most of the performances are fine, but the problematic writing is where I fell off with this. Sutherland is a great voice and Farrell gets better as it goes, but most of this is rough. The ending is trying to be clever but is yet another cliche and even Cohen, the writer, tries again 2 years later with Cellular which was not great either. 341/500 movies & tv for 2023
