(EN)🇬🇧 It's strange that I didn't tell you about this real movie before, but better late than never. Today I'm going to talk to you about this Buddy Movie style film and even though it's a police movie, it's not action perse, although it brings some great moments with these doses, but what's interesting is the leading duo of opposites, a rookie police officer and the other seasoned in his trade, and the title of the film means that the entire plot takes place in a single day and... what a day. A day of instruction where Ethan Howke's character will see the suburbs and shenanigans at the bottom of the city and well, Alonso's character...Denzel Washington...he eats up the screen, what he does in this film is spectacular And I say it without hesitation, it is one, if not the best performance of his career.... a cockiness and arrogance that make the character something despicable also makes him cool and even make you like him, and that ladies and Gentlemen, it is very very difficult, and his character is complicated to carry, only actors of Denzel's stature can do it, without discrediting the acting work of Ethan Hawke, which is brutal, but together with his great script and Denzel, we want more. Another thing that I really like is that it does not manipulate you and shows you the corruption that can exist within the police troops and at the same time reflects very human characters and not stereotypes. The film, as you can see, is about contrasts and it is made very clear with the protagonist duo... The rookie is the one with integrity, with values of cleaning the streets based on law and justice. On the other hand, Alonzo is the policeman who gets dirty, the corrupt one, but at the same time like the policeman who needs the streets, the one who knows about the real world, as they say, the one who learned from street school, You can't beat crime by playing fair and it's a reality that the movie reflects.... "More dangerous than crossing the line is the police officer who crosses it." A huge film and one of the best of the last decade with its great script, urban aesthetics and incredible performances...seriously unmissable.

Training Day is directed by Antoine Fuqua and stars Ethan Hawke and Denzel Washington in this crime thriller following a rookie cop who is on their first day of training for a high-rolling narcotics unit, but sees that the narcotics team is not what they seem. I have seen this movie about a hundred times over the years and it never gets old. This was written by David Ayer whom went on to create similar films such as End of Watch and Street Kings which are both great cop films. This still remains the best of those and with good reason. It is a well written thriller with an engaging story that throws you into the shoes of a rookie cop and begs the question “what would you do” as the story circulates around corruption and greed. It takes a very gritty and powerful exploration of those themes along with the idea of “what goes around, comes around”. Washington and Hawke both give powerful performances with Hawke being an instantly likable presence and Washington accomplishing a masterful balance between charismatic detective and ruthless criminal. You can tell Washington’s performance is incredible simply by noting how awful this person is that he is playing and knowing that he is nothing like that as a person himself. He completely disappears into this role and it is extremely entertaining to watch unfold. The pacing of the film is fast and flows smoothly from scene to scene as the duo go on several tasks throughout the day with the stakes steadily getting higher each time. This dynamic is paired with an atmosphere that causes Hawke’s character to be in a constant struggle to see the line between crime and undercover work and whether Washington’s character is corrupt or not. In some sense, the trajectory of the film, for the audience, can be rather predictable as you immediately have a sense of the corruption happening and understand how the film will likely unfold. Nonetheless, it is still a great exploration of those themes and driven by solid writing and powerful performances that solidify this as the classic that it is. 4.5/5 STARS #movie #filmfanatic #weekendmovie #movies #film #filmcritic #moviereviewer #filmreview #review #blog #2024movies #movieblog #movienerd #filmblog #cinema #movieland #filmreviews

is a brutal examination of law and order. It presents fighting crime as a blurred line between right and wrong, where justice and injustice are very interchangeable. Made with a raw, energetic 2000s style Training Day is a great showcase for gritty, authentic filmmaking and allows Denzel Washington to shine. As a corrupt yet intelligent cop he is given some great monologues which he delivers with fire and fury. His Oscar win was deserved and inspired. Training Day is overwhelmingly a success in my eyes. Its depiction of corruption, in both active and passive forms, really grips and probes into deeper questions about law enforcement. The film's dissection of masculinity, described as a wolf versus a sheep mentality, is also powerful. overall Training Day remains impactful and has a lot of dark material which is executed really well. Accompanied by an all time great performance the film elevates itself above what flaws it has. ★★★★ - near perfect (8/10)

This might be the kick-off to work to watch every Denzel movie this year. Without Denzel this may not be a great movie. Well-deserved Oscar performance for the win! Everyone is solid, supporting, even down to Dre & Snoop, because everyone is trying to keep up with Denzel. The writing, direction, camerawork, and effects for the moments are so good. Ethan Hawke is also good but feels like a drop of copaganda in the midst of the real story Fuqua is driving home. Perfectly paced with something to offer for any movie lover. 1st Denzel of 2024 23/500 movies & tv for 2024

The duo works really well, thanks to the great performances by both actors. Denzel Washington portrays Alonzo so well that he won the Academy Award for Best Actor, while Ethan Hawke was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. This 2001 movie shows a morally ambiguous side of the police, and challenges Jake’s idealistic beliefs. From an action movie to a thriller, this film is also considered as a hood movie, and hip hop heads will surely appreciate the appearances of legendary rappers Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.
