agaan: Once Upon a Time in India - (2001): Is a sports drama period film set in the 1890s. The movie is about a village that needs to save itself from getting taxed by wining a game of cricket against the britishers. This movie is fantastic and fabulous in all levels. The direction, acting, plot, script, music, characters, and screenplay all contribute wonderfully to this masterpiece. The movie was a hit and gained cult status over the years. Both audience and critic ratings were remarkably high. The movie can be watched with family because it’s clean. This is a true evergreen bollywood movie, that no other industry has yet proven the capabilities of this film. Watch the movie on Netflix before it is removed soon.

Now I’m even shocked by this one. I only watched it because it was on a list of the 100 best films I’ve was given, Its almost 3 hours long and its all in Indian…but it was great! another sports film where the final game was so amazingly gripping and was well worth hours of build up.

is a very long film starring one-note characters. It tells a story in which the impoverished villagers in a province of colonized India during the 1890's are being unfairly taxed by the British. An arrogant British captain challenges the villagers to a game of cricket, saying that if they win he will cancel their taxes for the next three years, but if the British win then the tax will be tripled. And so we follow a standard sports-movie plot with a very predictable ending. I know a big majority of my followers are from India, and like me to watch some Bollywood movies and i appreciate that, so i’m sorry to say this, but i’d like to stay truthful with my reviews. Lagaan almost fell into the ' it’s so bad it's actually good category' for me. I was laughing at certain scenes over how cheesy and cringeworthy they were, and yes, I know now that Bollywood movies are famous for being very melodramatic in nature and throwing all subtlety out the window, but this only makes me dislike Bollywood movies. I guess i’m just not used to the Bollywood style of film making. They also throw every single sports cliche at you with extreme force, and are not denying that they're doing it. This movie would have been perfect if it was max 2 hours instead of a very long and tedious 4 hours.
