Did not expect to see Francis Ford Coppola as an EP on those credits. Not a bad time but even 23 years later, seeing the wings really takes me out for the story overall. Reading more about the director really sullies most of the enjoyment out of it too. But I love Justin Long in anything where he's getting completely annihilated and kind of enjoyed that early 2000s camp quite a bit. There is zero chance I watch anymore Jeepers Creepers but this was a fun throwaway trip to the past and the nostalgia of seeing it in theaters when it was released. 387/500 movies & tv for 2024

7/10 I feel like not enough time spent at church, it's a pretty interesting and unique location. It's also mentioned towards the middle that the church is burning down, but we never actually see that, which I thought was odd. The main characters, Darry and Trish, are a bit annoying, but sibling relationship is relatable and funny. The villain (which I believe is called "The Creeper") is something new in concept, which I appreciate. It's a cool idea. The Creeper only uses its axe once, which I thought was a bit weird. Also, the "every 23rd spring" idea is unnecessary and never comes up after it's said. The cinematography is pretty good here, with the exception of the abundance of shots of Darry staring at things in awe. Jeepers Creepers (the song), especially when played through the record player, is incredibly eerie. The first half hour or so is actually really well done in my opinion, from the opening to when Darry and Trish find the small diner and gas station. I also enjoyed the third act a lot, and the ending specifically. The second act gets a bit muddled with the explanations of what exactly The Creeper does and all, but that's fine. I think I liked this a bit more than I should have.
