The most visible blood squibs I've ever openly seen in a movie but it actually enhanced my enjoymemt. Some solid cheesiness, but really only when it comes to the gringo and his terrible aesthetic. A genuinely great premise with good performances for the level of the budget and it uses tons of great edits and zooms to really bring you in. The entire mariachi song felt unnecessary but it added to his charm, I guess. Way better than I was expecting for a Rodriguez debut feature and glad I finally got to it. 354/500 movies & tv for 2024

Synopsis
El Mariachi just wants to play his guitar and carry on the family tradition. Unfortunately the town he tries to find work in has another visitor a killer who carries his guns in a guitar case. The drug lord and his henchmen mistake el Mariachi for the killer Azul and chase him around town trying to kill him and get his guitar case.
