More classic Disney from a great era of animated movies. Its hard to put into words why its good, its just full of charm, great songs, fun action, and a compact story.

8.5/10 I think this is another Disney movie that is just paced way too fast. It feels like not even a couple minutes pass between Jasmine meeting Aladdin and her being head over heels for him. It’s set up that she’s never left the castle, so you could argue that’s why, but I think it’s just a result of things moving too quickly. The voice acting is good overall, but Robin Williams as the Genie is one of the all-time great Disney voice performances. The man moves at a mile a minute. Since this is a Disney renaissance film, obviously, the animation holds up. The camera is extremely dynamic. The only part that looks a little dated is the use of 3D models for certain things, but I can’t dock points for that, because it’s a product of the technology of the time. The music is incredible. No surprise. The songs are all memorable. “Friend Like Me” and “A Whole New World” are classics in the Disney catalog. The score is tremendous as well. The jokes are pretty comical for the most part. All the pop culture references come from the Genie, who has “infinite cosmic power,” so they make some sense. Iago is pretty hilarious.
