An online friend of mine recommended Rain Man to me, and honestly, I’m so grateful they did. Without their suggestion, I might have missed out on this film. Until now, I had only seen three of Tom Cruise’s movies - Top Gun, Top Gun: Maverick, and Eyes Wide Shut. But Rain Man offers something completely different. Running 2 hrs and 13 min, Rain Man stars Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman, who both deliver incredible performances. It’s a road-trip movie on the surface, but it’s much more than that. The story follows two brothers, Charlie and Raymond, on a journey together. Charlie, played by Cruise, is impatient and driven, while Raymond, played by Hoffman, is precise and sensitive. As they drive across miles of open road, they begin to uncover layers within themselves and each other, learning side by side. The acting is powerful. Every word and silent moment feels genuine. they, brings an honesty to their scenes that makes you believe in the bond between these two brothers. The film beautifully captures the ups and downs of brotherhood - the laughs, the tensions, and the love that evolves between them. Raymond’s past holds a lot of depth and even pain, like memories falling gently like rain. You get a sense of just how complex and real their relationship is, and you can’t help but feel invested. For me, this film is an underrated gem. If you’re looking for something that’s worth every minute, Rain Man is definitely a must-watch.

This feels like quite a strange film to even attempt, but what they did try to do, came off pretty well. Both the lead actors performances were outstanding, really selling the brotherhood they create. The story was pretty simple too making it easier to just follow the characters journeys.
