The first appearance of Dr. Hannibal Lecter on film was wonderfully portrayed by Brian Cox. Although the character has very little screen time, he is a fundamental part of the story and stands out above an average mystery police movie, which has good elements such as a well-rounded, self-contained and intriguing script, but also has flaws, mainly technical such as editing, special effects and sound. The soundtrack is not good, as do certain directional perspectives. The performances are good in general, helping to raise the reputation of the film so as not to leave it in oblivion. It's a better film than the 2007 prequel, but I'd put it down as the second worst in the series.
