When - 11:05 PM Where - Amazon Prime With Who - Wife, Father, Mother, Myself First Thoughts - I’m honestly surprised that it took me so long to watch this movie, as it’s right up my alley. That era of history is one of my favorites to study with its bright colors and beautiful cars, and American Graffiti embodies all of that. Filled to the brim with lovable, memorable characters, despite it being a first-time watch I felt as though I had grown up with all of them. And to a certain extent I did, growing up in small town Southern California, many of the stereotypes presented in each character I could tie directly back to friends of mine growing up. The soundtrack is also totally killer, overseen by The Wolfman himself. It does a great job of enhancing each scene and driving home the emotions inspired by each scene. It’s funny to me just how much I related to many of the characters in this film and the challenges facing them. Whether to leave their little hometown or not, what waits for them in the big world, juggling romantic relationships and trying to get away with some fun mischief. Although I don’t grow up in the era the movie takes place, and even though many things were different, there are certain moments that transcend time. Overall, this was a genuinely fun, good time of a viewing and I’m already looking forward to a rewatch.
