As an Austrian I really don‘t understand how this movie could be a thing. But now I think I understand how the world sees Austria according to this movie.

I first saw this movie when I was little and I couldn't remember much of it, just that I really enjoyed it. So, when I saw the movie on Disney+ I knew it was a sign that I needed to rewatch it. I'm a big lover of musicals and the songs in this one are just lovely and delightful to watch. I can't even pick a favourite musical performance for this one because I love all of them. Julie Andrews is just how I remembered her which is beautiful and immensely talented and I loved the chemistry between her and Christopher Plummer.

A musical? No, thanks. One that lasts almost three hours? Out of the question. But The Sound of Music is a film that every self-respecting film buff should see at least once in their life. And well, all to prove that it is perhaps the best musical of all time. It's a very complete film. The photography, direction, soundtrack, script, production design, and Julie Andrews' performance are all superlative. The Austrian landscapes shine under the lens and direction of Robert Wise, while the adaptation written by Ernest Lehman is impeccable. The film is emotional, exciting, captivating, and with a unique charisma. If you hadn't seen this film until now, I am now a fervent defender of it, as it is one of the best films in history and firmly climbs to the top of all my rankings.
